Joe Avati & Friends

TICKETS FOR JOE AVATI & FRIENDS ON SALE MONDAY

Tickets to see Australian/Italian comedian Joe Avati’s next highly anticipated tour of Canada, JOE AVATI AND FRIENDS - also starring Canadian comedians Freddy Proia, Angela Maiorano, and Cesare - go on sale this Monday, February 4 at 11am.

If previous tours are anything to go by, tickets will sell out in a matter of days. Joe’s 2001 Toronto opening night sold out in a mere nine minutes, where he went onto sell 16 shows at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Since then, Joe has consistently sold out strings of shows at the same venue, as well as selling out in excess of ten shows straight in Montreal, and countless other venues around the country.

Joe Avati is an icon to Canada’s massive Italian population, sharing hilarious stories about living in a multicultural country – something many Canadians resonates strongly with.

Joe first burst onto the Canadian comedy scene in 2001 after becoming an overnight sensation when his now famous routine Nonno’s Car Accident was downloaded from Napster in 2000 by thousands of Italo Canadians. That year, Joe received more competition entries (over 7,000) than the Backstreet Boys in a Toronto newspaper win-a-date competition.

Often referred to as “The Italian Seinfeld” in North America, Joe set the record on the HMV comedy charts in 2002 for being the longest comedy CD at number one for a massive eighteen months for his hit CD Live and Unpluggato. He has also been sought-out by ex-Prime Ministers Jean Chretien and Paul Martin, who have both personally thanked Joe for his contribution to the comedy scene in Canada.
